From Body to Sculpture
It probably won’t surprise you that I spend more time in the studio than at home. When I work, time ceases to exist — all that remains is the material, the form, the body and focus on every detail.
My studio is where original sculptures and casts are created using the body casting technique. For many years I have been capturing the human body in its authentic form and transforming it into a lasting work of art. Every cast is made by hand, individually and with respect for the uniqueness of the person who becomes its model.
The studio is a space where classical sculpture meets modern materials, my own artistic methods and experimentation. It is where female nudes, reliefs, artistic face casts, death masks, erotic objects and design artefacts are created — from intimate pieces to sculptures intended for exhibition spaces.
In this photo story I want to take you straight behind the scenes. From preparing the moulds and casting the body itself, through finishing, colours and final details, to packing, transporting and installing the finished works at exhibitions. It is a look at a process that visitors usually don’t see when they encounter the finished sculpture.
