Remembering the Beginnings (2015)

I don’t usually dig around in the past. It’s gone. But today Google Photos surprised me with memories from 2015. It took me back to my beginnings.

No studio, just my living room. Plaster, bandages, silicone and endless trial and error.

Looking back, I have to laugh at how little I knew. I tried dozens of complicated techniques and materials, spent loads of energy and threw away plenty of failures… only to finally discover one big truth: the simplest solution is often the most perfect. That sometimes it’s enough to go back to ordinary plaster.

And you know what? When I look at those photos today… it doesn’t look bad at all.”
